Here is a ginrin soragoi owned by my local koi dealer. I love this fish...but, not for sale. He has had it for years. The other is a soragoi I sold last season. Looks a little asagi-like...but nice.

Super: We are getting off topic perhaps, but do you know the cross for producing the yellow leaves?

With the Igarashi Ochiba I posted, you can see the Kohaku influence not just in the red pigment, but in the base color... a light gray (even ignoring the blue reflection of the bowl).

This breeder has been trying to produce new type of Kawarimono. Although I know him personally, I have never asked how he crossed for it. Maybe, Ochiba X Kigoi or Ki-Shiro( it has a yellow color hiban instead of Kohaku's red color)

It is very interesting the Igarashi Ochiba that you posted compared with these Ochiba pics.

Very interesting, Super. While I like the outlining of the scales on the offspring, the darkness of the Hi does not appeal to me... rather Goromo-like, no? The thing that does appeal to me is the lightness of the gray base color. Light gray as a base leads me to imagine all the gosanke converted into new varieties with light gray replacing shiroji. Some breeder, some day, will make us excited... somewhat like Otsuka's best Kage Showa/Ochiba-Showa. The refinement of the gosanke will always be in the forefront, but the genetic potential of carp has not been exhausted by the breeding art.
