chinadna . . .

a very nice beginning in the hobby -- certainly much better than what we started with. I like them all.

Are you planning to keep your koi in aquariums or are you planning a pond?

Best wishes,

Chinadna,

Thank you for posting. Your English is fine, much better than my Chinese which is none. How big are your koi and how old? Could you tell us more about the size of your pond and where in China are you located?

The Showa is very appealing. If the Hi is as good as it appears, you will be very happy. Nice body on her.

The Shiro Utsuri has everything going for it, except the Sumi. I see no sign that the Sumi will become intensely black. Photos are always difficult, but I think it has "country sumi".

The Kohaku is one that I know rationally is not a show fish. But... I love the odd patterns of that sort. There was a Kohaku with an odd pseudo-inazuma pattern at Nisei Koi Farm last Fall that I had to get. It turned out to be male, so I'll be having my open for another such pattern. The complex maze of red makes for a great contrast in a pond with the other Kohaku have simple step patterns.

....It occurs to me that conventional western ideas of the Japanese sense of "simple beauty" and the Chinese sense of "ornamental beauty" leads to differ notions of worthy goals. I wonder how accurate our western ideas of eastern perceptions of beauty are?

Welcome to the board. I very much enjoy the different viewpoints of our international members.

Thanks for your praise

Thanks for your praise.I am very glade to join this club and can exchange with you. I live in Suzhou,a small city nearby Shanghai. Because my apartment is top,so I only have a aquarium. I DIY it .but it`s too small, only 0.6T

MY kohaku is 2 years old 40CM

sanke and utsuti are also 2 years old ,nearly 45CM

they are in my aquarium,so grow very slowly

Showa is 1 years old , 46CM . I foster care it in the farm. I hope it will be 60CM this year

Around us,some of the fans belive fish is more important than pond, and some belive fish is a part of pond and garden, they no very care of fish. I am
the former
