It is a sad sight ladies and gentlemen. Watching a man try to pull his pants up while keeping his foot firmly planted in his mouth is a contortionists nightmare

Would love to see pictures of yours and Ray's fish in six months. I think you will be surprised if you have the opportunity to see Ray's in a couple years.
an insult? No Mary. not at all, Mr Papabear just cast his vote. It's will take several years to know the result of his... vote, by that time, Ray and I , we may not be here. Let's have fun.

if I may vote, I'll go for Ray's showa. the color of the bowl makes Mojo's show appears somewhat yellow, but I believe the two fishes more or less share the same skin quality. as for pattern, the two also more or less has the front-mid-rear shiroji-hi-sumi balance. it is the bone structure that make me vote for Ray's showa.

i agree with you, it's a good learning experience that you give us all. do you think low life will be larger due to the big head?

I think there may be the perception that the head is larger, but it seems to be due to the slender body it is attached to. As JR mentioned, pictures can be very deceptive at times, but the head of your "lowlife" seems to be of typical size, while the body behind it isn't.

english is not my main language so I may incorrectly interprete this "lowlife" thing you are talking about. pardon me in advance.

I understand the two fish came from the same batch so I will assume they both got equal care. From the pic, Ray's showa is definitely bulkier than yours which should indicate that it is a better eater. At least from the pic, the overall head size and shape, eye distance, width of the mouth, shoulder width and curve, the angle from gill plate to tail stop all looks good on Ray's showa. The other showa, the mouth look somewhat pointy (could be pic angle), shoulder width and curve not wide enough (again could be pic angle), angle from gill plate to tail stop looks too step (and again could be pic angle). So, to answer your question, it's not only abut the size of the head.

But hey, they're both still small fishes and nothing is certain in small kois. What I can tell is that both fishes are so much better than my Dainichi showa attached. It's only 18cm.
