Hi Mojo,
Don't worry my skin is pretty thick and it takes a lot to get me mad. Were you at our club event this weekend? What is your name?

Hajime Sakuma selected my tosai showa for me by special request and then brought it to our club event last weekend. I asked for a special kindai tategoi type showa and I hope I can take good care of it so I can see it develop to it's potential.

I have bought a lot of nice koi from Hajime and trust his judgement much more than my own when selecting baby koi for future potential. Your showa is very nice also. Hope you enjoy watching it grow.

Regardless of size, I will still take #2 to grow out, in a heart beat. #1 beni is weak and will not hold up when grown out. #2 has that nice elastic beni and the sumi is very good quality. I see a lot of good things in that fishes future.

IMHO Ray's fish is much better in future .

Positive :
- Very thick hi (very high quality).
- have very dark black sumi under the skin
- body structure spectacular : wide mouth , head size ( a bit round , not triangle shape) very proportional compare to length (especially ozutsu) . Seems this small fish will become a female .
- colour's looks very soft (colour looks like come from under the skin)

Negative :
- it will take few years long to wait sashi & sumi finished ...

I think Sakuma really choose very fine showa for Ray .

Very nice.....

I don't really see any competition: Ray's koi is the 'future' koi.

Wink First Round T K O

#1 Ray Showa has the better body by far. Mojo Koi has weak legs (very skinny tail tube) and weak gloves (no motoguro) while Ray Showa is wearing 16 oz motoguro gloves from the start. Knockout 1 minute into the round against the weaker Featherweight

You gave me a good laugh, As with all beginners, the pretty colors get in the way. And before you take that as an insult Mojo, we have all been there. Everyone starts the hobby looking at the pretty colors, and not seeing the potential of a un-finished fish. I think this will be a great learning experience for you. Would love to see pictures of yours and Ray's fish in six months. I think you will be surprised if you have the opportunity to see Ray's in a couple years.

well, for my part--

When Sugar Ray and Marvin Hagler decided to rumble they did not send pictures in!!! LOls

This is exactly why pictures are useless when comparing fish in competition. Fun, but useless. especially useless for very large and very small fish. Decisions like this can only be made 'up close and personal' at a koi show. The Internet will never replace that reality.
The depth of water is different in these picture and so is the lighting. You could no better truly evaluate these fish by picture than you could by text messaging descriptions. This is why NO ONE should buy a fish from a picture, by the way. ( napkin drawing yes, both that is a different story! LOLs)

I like your fish's quality mojo. Rays is all show fish and also of quality. Based on picture- Ray's wins. Yours will be fun to watch finish.
I do see the depth of color mojo and the luster and I'm sure that is what has you challenging 'Sugar' Ray. But the show pattern alone on 'Sug' is as deadly as a good right hand.
So it's 'Sug' by technical knock out.
