In the photo the third Hi step appears similar to the rest of the fish. I assume that in person it appears lighter? I wonder if it actually is, or if it just seems a shade lighter because of the sumi coming in. It is said that there is a tendency for Hi to finish from head to tail, while sumi finishes from tail to head. Enjoy the fish and let us know how it progresses.

I think you'll discover that some of the black will crawl off the third beni step.
From what i see of it it is uniform for density and should be just fine. Since this is a GR showa and you can never tell from a photo how the GR is that would be more of my concern than the pattern which is secondary to GR.

i've been told that sumi in ginrin scale will never be as jet black as regular scale, i'm OK with that, hopefully menware will be connected in two year time .
this is my first ginrin showa, showa sumi is still a big mistery to me so i'm just focusing on kohaku pattern, this showa will give plenty of knowledge for me in term of sumi development on ginrin scale.

what can i say, i just bought this koi , probably the feeding portion on the dealer is a bit "economic" ..

dear wibowo,

let me guess, it's not local koi rite ? just wondering...anyway, you purchased it from the auction (i'm not sure wether there's one yesterday) or direct purchase ?

anyway, one thing about Gin Rin (as dick said), is the gin rin part...look it has a good and even scalation =)

dear wibowo,

to tell you the truth, i was surprised that now local showa has the similiar trait as Japanese, i've bought few local showa from the past 2 years, most of them have a defined sumi (in other word, sumi is there even when the koi is still very very young---a.k.a lousy quality)...but your koi has the 'tategoi sumi like' especially on her mouth part !!!

anyway, i din go back to Indonesia last week due to exams...and my bekko managed 4th (46-50xm)...haha...now it seems that his 'male' body shape unable to compete with those female koi in term of body shape...sign of retirement from show and shall let him enjoy free world now !

anyway, i talked to my dad, and he agreed to TOTALLY renovate my mud pond and hopefully an extension, n i think he caught on koi fever (finally, after goin there last week)...so, i'll be back next month, if you want to 'titip' some of your koi, it is my utmost pleasure boss ! for the detailed info about pond size depth, my current feeding regime just 'japri' me

Rgds,

Dimas

yup local showa is starting to catch up with jap koi, but i still prefer underlying sumi on japanese tosai showa, rather than bold sumi ( very common ) on local tosai showa, luckily this showa has the same sumi characteristic as the jap . at first no 1 wanted this showa they're too busy admiring 4 step sanke tategoi but after i bowled her people started noticing, i quickly make an offer before anyone does, manage to bought her for 1/2 of the opening price, i think it's a steal ..
