Ah, that would be very nice! Glad to see you're back at the helm of the website.

JR....Thanks for the info. I really think this would be interesting to do. I don't have the extra time right now to do something like that but I think in the near future it would be exciting to do. Thanks again!!!!

I'm really glad Jim explained about the comittment to the expenses. I think the average koi kichii has no idea of the contribution judges make not only in time but of resource$.

My personal take on learning to be a judge will take you a long way to understanding what went into a koi, it's background, what makes a good one and when you run across kawarigoi, you can look and see the elements and better know how to rate them because you can see it"s "roots".

Do the same restrictions to showing also apply to judging in ZNA and AKCA? Can a dealer or breeder become a judge?

Good Morning,
Under no circumstances can a professional be an amateur koi judge in any of the three judging organizations ZNA, AKCA or BKKS.

How about retired professionals?

How about a link to the ZNA website you are now webmaster of JR? Is it znaamerica.org or znana.org?

Hi Jim, yes, a dealer can eventually enter a judging program after a period of inactivity, a recommedation and sponsor in the form of a chapter officer/President and upon final acceptance into the program. That officer will of course be expected to be responsible for that recommendation.
But this is rare and odd as most professionals are far beyond the level of knowledge required by or obtained by a local certified amateur koi judge position.
I could see this happening if a newbie hobbyist tried to be backyard dealer in the second year of his/her experience only to find out it bearly supported the habit let alone taught anything other than lessons from the school of hard knocks X 5! A turning back to the amateur side often looks quite good at that point to that prototype 30 something backyard dealer! This is more common and understandable. But a true professional looking for amateur status at the beginner level of judging? Too odd to worry about or to have rules to address that 'blue moon'. .

O, the websites-- officially Joe White and Bob Brudd are in charge of the website and minutes to the annual meeting until next year so the znana.org is the good site address.

I donated znaamerica.org and znaamerica.com to the National organization and pay for it through monthly and annual personal gift donations now and over the last five years or so. I think it is THAT important. I hope to be authorized to man those sites once again officially now that my personal issues are becoming part of the past. In that regard, the ZNA board has been really wonderful in supporting me and this only link to the National organization at this point ( I handed over my job as MAKC ZNA rep to Nicole Lembke, who has done a great job in my forced absence).
I know that the chairman has taken a lot of heat for supporting me while I was down. Ron is an amazing stand up guy and I am lucky to call him friend. He really stood in there for me and honored the contributions I have made in the past ten years. I know some organizations would have said " what have you done for us lately". But not ZNA.. It's a pretty special outfit.
I thank each and every one of you who supported me during a very difficult time in my life and hope I can bring the two dormant websites up the level that Joe White now provides on our third site.
znaamerica.org and znaamerica.com will merge at some point this summer. JR

thank you Jim for sharing with us some personal stuff. I think people need to know that much of our koi organizations are supported by stand up people. I think it helps for folks to see a TOTAL picture.

The shinkokai (breeders assoc) helps to judge the washington Koi and watergarden club in the seattle area. We are also priviledged to have BKKS, ZNA, and AKCA judges as part of the team.

Well, my assumption of you taking back the helm of the ZNA website stirred a few juices. Just got a pm from Joe. He is very much interested in our follow-up info on the koi show and club in general.

That aside, still glad to hear your personal situation is improving. Keep the upper lip stiff and...

Best Wishes

Mike
