there are fish in my new pond..at last

i moved ten koi from their winter quarters in the garage,to the outdoor pond...i kept four smaller koi inside. i will try to get some size on them with extra heat and food and move them out next spring///...these outdoor fish will have some room to move around ....landscaping is on the list, but will have to wait until we are done with the kitchen remodell but thats another story..i just added a120 watt uv lite to the main pond and got it going this morning..these koi aren't fancy but they eat from my hand and i am learning from them how to keep koi...i will work on upgrading as i go along

Very nice job on the pond. Looks like you have that part somewhat under control. Being a new pond, keep a close eye on the ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and Ph. It'll take some time for the filtration to come on line (maybe 2-3 years to fully mature) so expect a little string algae the first couple of springs and then things should be very good after that.

I like your Ochiba!

Makes all that hard work worth while dosesn't it? Feels great right?

We're working on opening up our ponds now between rain drops. Can't wait to see the fish swimming in big water again!!

powerman . . .

Very nice! You've obviously put much love and effort into your pond and have reason to be proud. Know you and your fish are going to enjoy it.
