I really like the first one, but at that price would take them both.

All tosai are bit of a gamble, but Showa tosai are a BIG gamble. I like first fish's pattern as it stands now, could be an interesting fish in the future. The second fish's head looks stunted, but maybe it is just the angle of he picture.

Worth the price for the pleasure they will give you. It is difficult to evaluate the Hi at that size without observing/knowing how fry from the pairing develop. The Hi could be retracting or forming. It is in the process of "doing something", but I'm not able to say which. In 2 months of good feeding and warmer temperatures you'll have a better idea.

only 7". I do not know the breeder, but i'm sure it was Japanese, it was some name with the K in begining that i see on the box . in a tank about 200 fish, there is a customer ahead of me he pick 10, some how he does not see these fish. I think he need KOIBITO member. The second showa in real look better than the the first one, i still do not know why after long minutes of inspecting them 2, i think probably because of the skin hi quality on the shoulder without any sumi. hum, still have to analyse and learn.
