Cool Christmas at PSKoi!

This Thursday, May 10th, we will be getting 54 boxes of Koi from Niigata. This shipment will include the High Quality Jumbo Tosai from Hoshikin. If you are interested in seeing some amazing Kohaku come by the store around 2:00pm. All are welcome. If you can't be here, we will post some pictures.

I would like to bring to your attention the statement that Russ posted when talking about the Hoshikin jumbo Tosai that are coming in. Even though Hoshikin himself told Russ that these fish were his BEST QUALITY and his personal favorite patterns, the word TATEGOI was not used to describe these fish. Even though, if you asked the breeder, he probably would say they are as he was preparing to send these out to the mud pond for growing out to nisai. Only the VERY BEST go back to his mud ponds and very few at that. He is very selective about his high quality fish and only keeps very few. I understand there were about 100 fish in the pond these came from and Russ bought 50 of them! If you live in this area, I would strongly suggest being at Russ's tomorrow afternoon. Personally, I can't wait!!!!

Hi Mike,
Thanks for clarifying that. The word tategoi is over used. I hope that it be used the proper way. Out of the 50 I think that one was left behind. Thanks to Russ.

Hey Mikey

You sneaky boy you! Congrats. I'll have to have Russ show me the pic. Glad to see you've changed your buying routine - nothin' but the best from now on, eh!?!?!?

Those Hoshikin tosai ARE tateshita which ever way of the point of preferences. Those fish are the one that don't make the grade to go to the mud pond and become nisai. They can still be high quality fish and there profile are obvious: (1) Good skin & pattern but male! (2) Female but lack one of these features conformation/pattern/skin/sheen

There is nothing wrong with buying tateshita tosai for experimenting or keeping as pet. Knowing what one getting into is the power of knowledge. MA.Le

Hah, you are so wrong, very few are male and they all have skin quality, pattern, confirmation and sheen. I don't know where you get your information, but I am sorry that you understand it to be this way.

BTW, they are all coming with certificates that will state male or female, birthdate and parents(Bloodline). Hoshikin would have kept all of these in a mud pond.

Please, spare us hobbyists the mambo jambo. The disinformation that you dealers feed us today will come back and harm your business in the long run.

So tell all of us why should any breeder, in a right capitalist mind, sell you a now tosai for a few thousand Yen when he can earn half million Yen and up by this year end Fall harvest? Remember, NO kohaku ever escape the breeder eyes before.

Now, I begin to understand and appreciate JR's effort to weed out the dealers bad influence in a hobbyists' organization. MA.Le

So you just distrust EVERY dealer based on your personal experiences? Wow, you really don't have a clue do you?

Hoshikin sold these fish based on a "special" relationship with another breeder who Hoshikin is very good friends with. I know you've probably seen dealers use the "certificate" teaser in the past. Hoshikin is providing them but not at the request of the dealer. He wants to make sure people know what they're getting. AND THESE COST FAR MORE THAN A FEW THOUSAND YEN!! Have you ever purchased anything from this dealer? Do you know of his business practices? I would suggest not judging people blindly as you come off the fool!!

Russ

Sorry, yes Thursday not Tuesday.
