Dainichi showa

here is a Dainichi showa, 8" thru Brett. that is his best dainichi that he has this season. he said. will have more to come

From reading thru the threads on this forum and many other forums this Showa would be finished wouldn't it be?

At 8" I would seriously doubt it.

This fish is far from finished. If you look closely at the sumi, you could be taking a big risk, in that this fish is very young and the chances of the sumi being mature is doubtful. This fish could actually change quite a bit from what you see today. Look to the sumi that is on the shiroji and look for deep insertion of the black under the white scales. That's the adult sumi. If it appears thin and there isn't any insertion, chances are, it will go away and make way for the adult sumi later. Changes in tosai showa and utsuri can be quite dramatic. Keep us posted on it's development at the end of the growing season. Would really like some comparision pics to look at.

thanks, mr Mike, i think the picture blur a lot, not very clear, actually the sumi very clean, that show the fish is pretty finished. Brett has these fish from his childhood friend, a vice president from Dainichi. Every year he comes to Houston to visit his alma school, U of H, that where Brett attended too. he brought with him couple hundred , mostly showa. This year is kind of late, I went to Brett farm, not to far from where i live and bought five showa, it all look about the same. lot of black. These are the best of the bunch, seldomly i see a lot of showa of this kind in one tank. next time i will take picture on a white bowl seem like it more clear than blue one. Brett is very happy to sell me these, because he show me one big Kohaku from Dainichi that he just bought, cost him 10,000 for breeding. ten grand. unbelievable

Mojo: I agree with Mike...not finished at all. If it was, then a lousy Showa with poor Sumi and Hi blurred at the edges. You got better than that.

I dunno about that statement about Brett and the U of H......that Aggie (A&M) might take offence to that. I do know if you made that same statement and said he attended the U of Texas it would be fightin words.......
