Which Sanke will be better long term?

Obiviously one Sanke is male and other in female. Which Sanke do you think is a better long term project than the other.

The hi on B looks more finished, but I like the body shape on A -- could turn out to be a jumbo given proper care. This being the case, I'd pick A as having the better long-term potential. I'm still a rank amatuer when it comes to evaluating Koi so I'm sure others will disagree...

These are good pics to do the ratio comparisons to. Width of head to length of head from nose to eye and eye to back of gill. Unfortunately, I have never figured out one bit of that stuff.

You know what to look for Tonio? I think Dinh does and maybe Dan. I know every Malaysian does.

A..hands down. A looks like a big full female who still needs to finish. Her best days are ahead of her. B..probably a male and mostly finished.

I want guys to study the body shape.

Which Sanke fits the "FOOTBALL" shape and which fits the "CIGAR" shape.

Also note that the modern day male Sanke still has the potential to grow big, be it that Matsunosuke bloodline is used as every breeders foundation for they're Sanke and even a finished fish still has a future.

Interesting. So this is not a koi show ranking decision. This is a guess as to the future. You tricky devil you! LOLs

A is a female and has a female body. So I can see why so many are taking the bait as if this was a koi show decision.
B is male, and limited in where it might go in the future- but this fish is a better grade fish than female A and therefore is the better prospect.

The weaknesses in A are color quality and body shape, probably due to bone structure and rearing technique. JR

And the strength of the male is the wonderful slow taper to the body, pointed out as a cigar shape, staying thick all the way to the tail. Even the head is wider on the male, not so pointed, contributing to the massive impression. Long way to go for the male to be something; short way to go for the fremale to be nothing.

How about those ratios somebody.

If the foundation stock was unknown I's still likely go with A for the "long term" project as it has further to go down the road to being finished BUT... since we know the source that alters things for me.
A has conformation issues imho. The head seems too small for the body both in terms of proportion and shape. The quality of the shiroji is very nice and the beni/sumi package could eventually finish well, but if the body continues to outrun the head it could become a very odd looking fish at maturity.
B on the other hand has a well proportioned head to body ratio, good looking skin as well, and a well balanced, solid pattern. It may never win any GC trophies, but it could do well in mid-size competitions and would look great in my pond
