Any PP treatment feeding guidelines, can't find them.

Hey, I was wondering if any one knew or used any specific feeding guidelines while in the midst of a PP treatment. I can not find anything on feeding during treatment, not even from our fav Koi vet, not on the net at least. Only not to taint the food with the active PP.
I am trying to use my PA here and think of my Koi not only as patients, but as human patients right now. If I had a chemo patient, in the midst of a chemo tx, I would only give IV, necessary fluids and not feed as to not waste energy digesting when they need it to heal.
Should I assertain holding off feeding until the PP treatment is done, until I have the 6 hours of pink/purple water? This was my 1 st tx of PP today, and it took only 8 min. only to turn to tea color. Very dirty, and I cleaned all organics I could and bypassed filter. I have regular food and the medicated ones, I guess I will use the medicated ones, can't hurt, just not sure if I should wait, or if they need the food. I know one thing, and not to taint the food with the active PP, will be toxic, is it safe or recommended to feed tom. in the AM BEFORE next PP tx? Just want to do what is best for them. I got my PP from my local pond shop and I did not get the wonderful guide Dr. Johnson has, they did not have them, but I found them on the net and used the PP accordeing to the guidelines.
Thanks,
Carrie

hold the food. add air stones. any waste can reduce the effectiveness of PP, it may also consume oxygen. Anyway, your koi can go without food for few hours.

koi can go without food for weeks. I personally left my koi unfeed for 3 weeks while I was out of the town. no problem whatsoever.

Wow, 3 weeks unfeed, that's long. I believe the koi must have consumed some algae in the pond, otherwise, I think that is impossible. Is anyone would like to share their experience here. I tried it for 8 days and has no problem.

I agree 100% about not feeding your fish while the pp is still in there. Personally, if I ever have to medicate my pond, or treat a fish in isolation, the number one rule is not to feed for a few days after the treatment as well. Not had any problems.

Incidently, here in the UK it is not uncommon to not feed the fish for four or five months over the winter period. Again , no problems, for me anyway.

Been at it for 20 odd years so I must be doing something right.

Dan: I have left the koi without food for a week in the summer with water temps over 80F without any visible loss of weight. I'm sure they grazed on algae the entire time, but hardly a high calorie diet. It has been suggested that when pond temperatures exceed 83-85F feeding should cease, even if that is for a month or more. Studies indicate koi are not very efficient using the nutition at such high temperatures, so the koikeeper is just feeding the filter. I am not sure this thinking is 100% applicable in warm climates. I don't think koi "evolve" a different metabolism in warm climates, but I think they adjust over time... a sort of re-programming of the metabolism to a slight degree? So, maybe the range extends a couple of degrees more? Anyway, no harm in not feeding adult koi for a couple of weeks. When it comes to fry in their first season, it is a different story. They need all they can utilize. Fry growth in very warm water is considerable as long as oxygen levels are maintained.
