Ochiba Shigure

Hello, I read a lot here but don't post much.
This is a Ochiba Shigure I bought from Kevin Pham a couple of months ago. Tell me what you think.

I like it very much. Ochiba with interesting patterns are not so common. There are what appear to be specks of Sumi behind the head. With growth, I hope these recede.

The fish is definitely Ochiba, but shows Kohaku genes. If placed in a tub of Goshiki, it would look like Goshiki at first glance.

Kevin has been getting some nice non-gosanke this year.

Billy.....as I mentioned before....very nice Ochiba. Hard to find with excellent patterns and good deep color. I have a pretty nice one, who at 12 inches took the ZNA Award at Portland a couple years ago. Quite a feat for a 12 inch fish. Yours, however is nicer in my opinion. The pattern on your ochiba will look good as it grows. Mine grew out of it's pattern somewhat....but still pleasing. Good choice....think you have a wonderful ochiba, which hopefully will get even more impressive as it grows. JMHO

Agree....mine has the same root beer color. It's an Ochiba from Sakai of Hiroshima. The small specks if like my ochiba, will come and go according to water temperatures. At least that is what happens with mine.

Great looking Ochiba! I'd love to see a better pic of it.

I have 3 fallen leaves in my pond. 2 are a friend of mine's, and one, a nisei
from nisei koi farm belongs to yours truely.

They are rich, yet subtle looking koi and i like them a lot! I ought to break down and photo mine, i just hate introducing a net and getting things all shook up in the pond.

My akka bekko that i recently received was brought to the states by kevin.
