A little hard to tell from the size of the photo you posted, but I would say the beni is finished and appears that it will break down within 2 years. If you look at the kiwa, it is very jagged. This is usually not a good indication of high quality. JMHO

The picture resolution is only 135 x 250, some 1.5K bytes. Way too small to make a sound judgement. This fish is Sakai Hiroshima tosai auction fish? Why don't you ask them for a higher resolution picture if serious about buying. stevec

Is it me, or do any of you think that the pattern is a little too small for this koi if it were to be grown out to a larger size?

It looks like it's about 12" long, right?

Did you buy it yet?

The pattern may or may not be too small in the future. I am no expert, thats why I am asking for comments.
Yes, I purchased this koi a week or so ago.

I'm not expert enough to comment on long term beni quality but many other posters on this board are pretty good at it. My impression is that the beni pattern is not so balanced from the front/back point of view.

So are you regretting the purchase?

It's a keeper if it were mine, definitely if it's a guaranteed female. Conformation is good and the shiro on the body is excellent. The concern w/ the kiwa is a problem unless it is defintely maruzome kiwa, hard to tell from this small photo but I'm sure you saw it in person b/f you bought it. Right?

I am personally pleased with the purchase. Just looking for a critique of it as a tosai.
Future potential commentation is kind of interesting. As soon as I get a better photo, I will post it.

This photo makes the pectorals look smudged with pigment. I assume that is not accurate. Which makes me assume other aspects of the photo are not reliable.
