how to tell if my koi is pregnant.

my gold ogon seems to have got fat? could she be pregnant?

usually a female develops eggs sometimes 3 mostly 4 years old. they do swell in the middle and eventually will have to reabsorb the eggs this winter when she fasts or you'll have to spawn her. be sure and do not heat and feed this winter in the 60's and 70's fahrenheit as this will only compound the problem.

Ive always just let them spawn...do any of you use a hormone to get them started??? that is when you put them in another holding area off by them selfs???

i know she is not the best quality of koi but she was my 1st so special to me

Looks like she has plenty of eggs. However, there is no 'expectation' one
can make on when a koi will spawn. Just be prepared. They usually spawn
in spring and summer.

ok thanks, so its definatly a female then? lol i dun know how to sex fish :S any tips on how to so i can sex the resy of my koi? thanks
