Koi Survivors...

I originally purchased 6 Koi shortly after completing our first pond 4 years back. It was a tiny pond, overstocked, and way underfiltered, but I was just starting out into this crazy hobby and I didn't know any better at the time. Anyway, we've added three additional ponds since then and our collection of Koi has gotten progressively better (and more expensive) ever since.

Of my original 6 Koi, only two are still with us following a devastating PH crash suffered a few years back. The lone survivors include a 16" ki matsuba (pictured below) and a 14" shiro bekko currently residing in our growout/sale pond. How many of you still have Koi from your original herds? Any pictures? Are you planning to let these Koi live out thier lives in your pond or are you planning to cull in order to make room for better quality specimens? Just curious...

Joseph

I bought this Long Fin as one of my first 'real' koi. The others I had at that stage was koi I got for free and most of them is gone now. I got this lady at 40cm and she is now around 75cm . I never take het out to measure as she is just what she is and we don't have a show class in South Africa for Long Fins. She actually belongs to my wife. When we started out we had a 'massive' gold fish and we got serious about the koi the goldfish had to go. so to keep the peace I got her this one..
