Talking World Record Common Carp Video

I know she's just a common carp, but I think she's beautiful.

YouTube - World Record Common Carp

All through watching the video I couldn't help whispering over and over, "Let her go, let her go, let her go...."

I'm also so very pleased that this was a 'catch and release'. I own among other investments, a fishing gear shop for trout that has a strict fish and release policy/philosophy. We hope to encourage the sport of fishing but also the concept of respecting all life, no matter what form it takes. The best day is to catch a record size trout on a #2 hook and then to release it. A totally satisfying experience. - JR

Recent research in Oz, by the New South Wales Fisheries Department has concluded that survival rates of catch & release are less than 20%.

There is therefore a program developing to educate fisherman on techniques to increase the survival rates.
