AKCA Champion of Champions

Just for fun, go to akca.org and look at the Champion of Champion candidates for the last few years. I don't know if they can be posted here, maybe someone knows who has more tech savy and we can all take a look.

It is interesting to see the change in quality over the last few years. What do you think?

Oh Contrare (sp?)

The Champion of Champions was from the San Diego show and a Southern California koi (maybe NoCal, not eaxcatly sure but a Cal koi just the same).

You must be thinking of the AKCA Club Koi of the Year which was the McWhirter's Shiro Utsuri of Dallas. Two totally seperate awards.

Kind funny seeing the Champion of Champions was Perry's San Dawg GC Kohak over Duke Nguyen's Dainichi ABAKS GC....I have seen the 2 fish in person and I have to say that one fish was raised by the dealer and the other raised by a the hobbyist....

36" with superior conformation and quality or 34" with average quality?....you decide...

Well whatever, to bad we'll never see these 2 Kohaks go head to head at a show...

Duke's fish wins -- no comparison between those two fish -- but was it even nominated for C of C?

I know it's weird, but sometimes they haven't even been entered in the competition.

Remember these are photo contests. Excellent photo usually ranks above a average photo. Photography skills make a big difference.

Yes it is a photo contest. The photos Tony posted though are not the photos I saw being judged in AZ. Not to take anything away from either koi or their owners but I really thought based on the photos that Dukes Kohaku had the best photo by a wide margin. I've attached a photo of a photo of sorts. This was taken last weekend and as it happened when I took the shot Dukes kohaku was being projected on the screen. So you can see it was a heck of a shot even in this horrible photo of a photo. The body is dead straight with the pecs out and there is no glare. That koi posed for this shot.
