Lightbulb The Question of Illogical Principals

I know we've beaten the Domestic/Japanese horse to death and closed the stall door after it's out, but I've got one more burning question on this subject, more of a trivia thing and a whole lot of tongue in cheek:

If a Japanese koi farmer immigrates from Japan to here, bringing his native Japanese oyagoi with him, is his produce on our soil and in our water Japanese or domestic?

One would think they'd still be Japanese, since they're bred by a Japanese breeder and have 100% Japanese blood. But on the other hand, they're born here, which would make them American. Would we then have a hybrid Japanese/American koi?

*LOL* Yeah. It takes a while to fill a 90' hand-dug mudpond with a hose....

Lol

If its bred in the US, I'd say its a "domestic". Look at the top US breeders, are they not using Japanses brood stock? Most are anyway.

Yep... and I believe our first domestic breeder did in fact emigrate from Japan.

Are some "major" breeders going [or have moved] to america where land is much more plentiful and cheaper? Have some done so already?

I mean it seems logical to move away from a place that is constantly ravaged by natural disasters like earthquakes? I mean who knows how many GC have been lost due to the last major earth quake that hit niigata prefecture.

Domestic The water is not the same, nor the soil, but even if it were, the answer still would be domestic.

Since koi is from China? Shouldn't koi produced in Japan be Domestic too?

The chinese did not go perfecting nishikigoi for all the world to enjoy, did they? The common carp is originally from the middle east.
