What are your thoughts on this Sanke?

Please this is my first Koi paid $75 for it :-) as a starter Sanke I thought it was nice as it is only 9" and less than a year old. I thought it was nice I wouldn't know how it will change as it gets older. I know it was from Oya Koi Farm if thats a indication on how it will develop (at least from what I read it may make a difference)

No worries on my feelings, I had to start somewhere so here it is... let me know what you think.

Thanks

Watch what happens with the red pigment over the next 6 months. Some of it will fade, but will some hold and consolidate? Enough to keep an attractive pattern? The breeder and dealer could not use available space and time to find out... so you were able to acquire at a fair price. If the pattern holds, you got a bargain,

Not a bad deal for the money spent, and MUCH better than most of the "starter" Koi that get posted on the web. You must have been lurking about and paying attention for a while

Thanks for all the replies. Well I hope I can raise it well and give it what it needs esp since I have a small 180 gallon tub in which it has to live in until I can plan and build the pond which I am slowly gaining info on good ways to build it esp for my environment.

If you have the filtration for it, you may want to get a larger tub to put it in for the time being. I picked up an INTEX pool for $85 at Target that holds over 1,000 gallons. If you have the time and filtration for it, it may be worth the effort, especially for a koi of this quality. Considering I am doing that with all my pondgrade koi, I would urge you to do it for that gem.

your current holding place COULD stunt the growth a bit.

I was just looking into getting something like that as it would be a lot bigger while I get things going on the pond. (I just gotta make sure to keep the kids outta it )
