Here's some more pics for you. Not being able to judge fish by pictures does not carry over to people pics. You can judge whether folks are having fun. Yes, there was fun during the serious business of Koi Showing Competition, Grr.

Here are pics of me with my friends from the Detroit Koi and Watergarden Club, then Pammie and I with Shin Kawayoke and Kaz Takeda. Following that is a pic of the coolest KoiGal on the planet, Logan Skaggs, and pics of her getting an award from Dick Thomas for her platinum. (a gift form Dick 2 years ago, that's a little like growing your own GC, right?) Last is a pic of Bob Brudd, a great judge of character. Brenda Thomas, Nicole Lembke and Gilbert Chen are in there also. I think that might be Troy in the backgound of Logan's pic also.

Please do not be distracted from the serious businees of Koi Showing Cometition, Grr, but remember that I was the fellow who posted pics of the hats people wore to the first annual ABAKS. If I hadn't been having so much fun I could have gotten more and better pics this weekend. It was a blast. It is a wonderful club. And Indy is a fine place for a show.

A Few More of the show...

Dick and I had the best time!! I was allowed to "shadow" Tamera inside the show ring while she acted as scribe so I could learn more about the workings behind the scenes!! What an eye opener that was!!! Thank heavens John Waters is coming into town for our show!!! I'm hoping Bay can help with this duty as well or perhaps with the fish handling.

The weather couldn't have been better, the food at the Banquet was EXCELLANT, the koi folks, PRICELESS!!! We got to see old dear friends and meet some new ones!!

Since I was able to hear the decision process during the judging, it was very hard to keep a poker face when it came to our fish. At one point I actually had to leave the ring so I wouldn't let on they were talking about our fish. I guess I just get too excited about these things. What I did hear about our entries is that the judge's noticed the luster of the skin of the fish. That comment alone was the jewel of the show for me. That tells me that we're doing something right as all three of these fish entered are fish I have had in my care at least ONE year and longer for one of them.

Congrats, Sue. She's a beauty. Are you showing at KoiAmerica? It could be 3 in a year.

Has anyone heard Kaz's condition? I heard he went to the hospital on Saturday afternoon with chest pains.

As of 6:30 pm Sunday

Kaz was still at the hospital under observation and was expected to get released Monday morning. Dick and Brenda Thomas were going by to check on him Sunday evening.

Here is the word from Dick Thomas on Kaz...

I visited Kaz briefly at St. Vincent's hospital Sunday evening on the way
home. He was OK. Monday afternoon I drove him to the Airport where he had
a flight to Kansas City to visit one of is daughters for a few days. Again
he felt fine.

Thanks Mike!! We're looking into Koi America this year, but the driving is what may stop us from bringing fish. I haven't checked Mapquest yet to see how long a drive it is....and then there is getting around Washington DC which I think would be right in our path.

I'm glad to hear Kaz is doing better. He didn't seem to respond to quickly to the sugars that were offered to him at the show. It seemed to me that something more was going on. I hope all goes well for him.
