Have fun for me then Dick! I don't get to go this year, rebuilding the pond is taking all my time now! So I'll just have to suffer until next year's! Lots of pics though please, if I'm not to darn tired out from working on the pond (and the heat), I'll be looking for pics!

from a show standpoint this is the one that can surprise me with their choice of GC RGC.....quite often I get a chance to bench many shows and can get a close look at entries then decide for myself. usually I do pretty well. Over the years I have come to learn the differences in ZNA,AKCA, and Japanese breeders. It has helped me to grow in the hobby. I think it's an incredible legacy when you look at how long this show has contributed to the education of folks about our hobby. Something the club can be very proud of.

One Week to Go!

We hope to see many of you one week from today at the Portland show. The weather is shaping up to be a perfect 80 degrees ( It is raining this weekend!). We have a great vendor lineup ( See ya there Russ!). There are koi making their show debut that will be GC contenders. Oh, and there will be Goldfish too! Laurie and I will be working under the tent, please come by and say hi.

Speaking of sorting, Sharon and I are going through the process as well. Wondering what our esteemed judges will take a liking to, Kohaku, Sanke, Showa or Shiro, always a question be fore the show.

We are setting up our koi (Koi Kruiser Trailer) and plan on car pooling with Greg and Judy Linnebach. Always a long trip, about 8-9 hours on the road from Spokane with several stops along the way to check up on koi and how they are enjoying the ride in thier cozy quarters (Travel Tank). The Tri-cities, WA and The Dalles, Ore are always the hottest part of the trip. Temperatures are predicted to be in the mid to high 90's during our trip. In the past we have purchased bagged ice to keep travel tank water temperatures reasonable while coasting through these areas.

As you might guess, our trip to the Show is quite an excursion but well worth it. Once there we enjoy many of our koi kichi friends and festivities thru the weekend along with supporting on of our great Northwest Clubs. So looking forward to next weekend and just maybe take down an award as well.

See you there,

Dan and Sharon

PS; Sorry to hear Henry will not be there, will see you at QK in October!
