I drain the pond every year completely in early october so get things under control and spread out a bag of lime . This spring I netted about 30 toads as the tadpoles compete for same food chain . Still there were quite a few tadpoles which I netted and threw into overflow from pond . Toads are good for the gaden as I have 500 hostas . The frogs I am concerned about and had water garden society meeting here so members were told they could catch as many as they wanted . The worst are the green frogs crossed with bull frogs . I once had a small pond with a 100 baby koi that were really nice I arranged for their feeding as I was away at the cottage for 3 weeks . All what was left were 4 and a very big fat frog when I returned .
