Michael

As I have told you on several occasions, I would not buy a fish from a picture.

However, I can see the quality just coming through these pictures. I am pretty sure that the eyes are not crooked and I think the angel; of the pic may possibly giving the koi the pinched face look. Perhaps before the deal is finalized you can get Sakuma-San to take a video of this beauty swimming in a tub. That would give you a much better impression of this fish.

Michael as long as you like this fish, don't worry about what others think. The quality looks to be outstanding on her, And I think she could do pretty damm well at alot of the koi shows in the USA.

JMHO nothing more nothing less.

Actually....

This is a good example of why you can't adequately judge pictures from a photo. First off, in the first picture (left, the right eye looks more forward than the left yet while in the second picture, the left eye seems forward of the right. If I was a betting man (and I wouldn't for the obvious price of that koi), I'd bet that the eyes are perfect...when seen in person. The next thing is the "poitiness" of the head or even possible "pinched" appearance? Most koi when photo'd with their mouth's open such as this one will apear to have a pointy head. Again, picture angle and 2 demensions verses a live 3 deminsional view can be totally different.

I agree with Nancy the many other quality attributes "seem" to be present. but again, "Live" is the only real way to tell.

Steve, but when you have first hand experience & knowledge of owning and raising a pond full of High quality show fish, one can see that this fish (from the pics) posses these qualities. I would love to see a video of this girl swimming.. Or better yet, at a koi show in Japan this year strutting her stuff.

Hello everyone thanks again for the nice comments and not so good. I really appreciate it. Nancy I think I will ask the dealer of this koi to send a video clip of her. And also ask Sakuma San to enter her at the 2008 All Japan Shinkokai if possible to see if she is worth it or not. But anyway I really like the fish. I have cut down my stocking rate from 50 to 28. And will keep on striving to achieve my goal. Should have listened to Nancy and Jo Co when I started my buying spree Nov. 2005 not to overstock my pond . Thanks for all the comment. Since we already have a request from a fellow hobbyist to show this fish at the AJ Shinkokai 2008 I will try to ask the dealer to show her before she comes back. Will keep everyone posted. Hope he agrees.

It's weird. I have looked at the pixs several times now and on one occasion even stared at it for several minutes, but I just can't seem to get past the head. If I cover the head then the rest of the koi looks great: well-proportioned hi pattern with sharp kiwa and complementary lacquer-black sumi; good spindle-shaped body with broad tail-joint.

The only question I have for you and the "sensei's" is I notice some ginrin scales on the body. How would this affected the judging outcome of the koi?

Lammikoi . . .

As Dick Benbow said in post #6, "it has matsunosuke GIN" -- which doesn't impact judging outcome at all.

I think the Sanke has pretty nice quality but not really good lines.....the face, head, shoulder and body

I agree, I think the quality is very nice but the conformation is off. I don't care how you look at it, because in one picture the mouth is open and the other it is closed, it has a short pointy head. The body is also too wide for the tail section. It is just not proportionate.
