I read the thread on malaleuca, interesting to see people looking after new treatment. In the same range of idea I tried a new antibiotic this spring.
I had one of my koi who jump out of the pond and had a big injury, he loose a lot of scale and had a big infection. Salt bath didn't work so I tried "Convenia" that works 14 days after only one injection. The result was spectacular.
Convenia is used for skin infection on cats and dog, using under skin injection and specialy for skin infection. I phone to the lab (Pfizer) to ask if I could inject it in intra muscular and if they had tried on fisch. Intramuscular injection did not cause any problem, but of course they had no idea on using it on fish.
This new antibiotic is a third generation cephalosporin, the solvent is water like, so easy to inject and in smal volume (0.1 ml/ kg). I used 0.3 ml for a 3 kg koi.
Only problem, the price( 27 € the ml ) and once the product has rehydrated, the product has to be used within 27 days (10 ml in the bottle) .....
So this is just an information, it works for me this time, maybe it won't works in all cases but it could be interseting in the future ...
