Damage report from Nagoka

I've just been updated with some information stating that a few breeders have suffered some quake-related damage. Will keep you updated as more info comes in.

I heard it is typhoon season in Japan now. Any worries of landslides due to the earthquake?

One of Marudo's ponds in Kashiwazaki has been slowly leaking water since the earthquake. Its been about a week and the water level has dropped about 1 meter (I think), we think there is a crack in the drain pipe. We're not sure, but we're probably going to harvest the pond sometime this week.

Hi Devin,

Do you know which pond it is (Tosai, Nisai, Sansai)? It sounds like everyone at the farm is OK though, which is a far cry from the last quake. Good luck, and hope the harvest goes well.

Rob,

I think they are nisai, it is a mix of Asagi, Karashi, Benigoi, Chagoi, and maybe some Kujaku & Kumonryu. I don't think there are any azukari fish in that pond, so nobody has to worry if you have Marudo holding a fish for you.

Thanks Devin. Will the koi from that mud pond go to another mud pond or will it just end up in the concrete ponds?

Hey Brian,

Have there been any updates on the conditions of the damages to the koi farms caused by the quake?

Hi Rob,

I've heard no more updates, so I'm assuming that the damage is minimal. There are some flooding reports north of Tokyo (but not up to Niigata yet) so that's a bit concerning.
