Kujaku

How much matsuba pattern does a kujaku need? I have posted a a picture of one of mine below. All other faults aside, I wonder how much the absence of the matsuba skin below the lateral line detracts from this koi.

Kinda hard to say

Bradley,
When we talk of detracting, we are normally speaking in comparison to other koi.....or thus in competition. But, competition is based on the koi competing. That being said, I am not sure what the competition is like in Australia. Is it the norma to have less pronounced matsuba scalation in your competitions? If so then it would be no big deal. In other areas it in fact could be a big deal if the scalation is more pronounced as a norm.

Steve

As an aside .... Very interesting fish. It can be seen as the "metallic Goshiki" that Kujaku was originally conceived to be.

MikeM

My love affair with goshiki had me viewing this lady in a similar way. You dont usually see much variation in kujaku as you do goshiki.

Cheers
