I can't thank them enough for taking time out of their busy schedule to share with me not only their experiences with koi, but with life as well, and I strongly encourage them to continue with what they have been doing in hopes of advancing this great hobby.

Russell, I just wanted to let you know that you brought up some killer Matsunosuke tosai and that I will definitely keep in touch with you for some tategoi in the near future. In fact I will see you and your lovely wife this upcoming September at the Tosio Sakai seminar. In the meantime please continue with your great posts cuz it sure makes life at work more interesting!

What a great show!!!!!!!!
Hi Lahm,

It was really nice to meet you as well. I always enjoy the kind of enthusiasm you have for Koi and the Koi hobby.

I just want to clarify that the Toshio Sakai Seminar will be September 12,13,and 14th 2008. It is not this year. It is being put on by the NIKK (North Idaho Koi Keepers)for the 2008 PNKCA Seminar in Idaho. The NIKK is a very serious, but fun group of hobbiests. It will be a must attend avent. Dan, let me know if I left anything out.

Russ,

There are a few little tid-bits that all attending may enjoy. Greg and I have been working mostly on concepts and setting up venue but along with Toshio Sakai Seminar, Dick has volunteered to talk about tosai selection, Mat McCann will be a presenter as well and we are thinking of doing some club judging contests between our 15 member PNKCA clubs.

If the seminar presentations are not enough we have booked a 3 hour banquet cruise on Lake Couer d'Alene, a tour of this beautiful lake while enjoying koi kichi talk and fun.

We have booked Templins resort on the Spokane River in Post Falls Idaho for the weekend Convention. This resort is pet friendly and will accomodate RV's as well. Convention set-up and vendor space is plentiful, all with a view of the crystal clear Spokane River.

Greg and I will have additional details as we head into winter.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

I don't think it can get much better but I am sure you and Greg will think of something. I know that Kari and I are looking forward to hearing more and attending the event.

In an era of difficulty in finding a host club to put on such an event, "nickey" as the club is affectionately called by members ( of which I am one) was less than a year old when it accepted the challenge. Knowing these 2 as i do as well as the other members, this event will be more than memorable. I'm honored to be on the same billing as Toshio and Mat...

We really enjoyed seeing everyone and appreciated our out of state friends Dick Benbow , Tom Ayers, Dan and Sharon Olson, Greg and Judy Linnebach, Carl Forss and Carolyn Swanson.....And anyone else I might have missed...!

Pete,

Who is the dealer of the Reserve GC? They should be given some credit for bringing in this gorgeous Koi.

Dick,

This may be a question for you.....I think Dan and Sharon go directly to the breeders to buy.....

Sharon got to Japan one day ahead of me last year, of course she is always looking for an excuse to bring another koi into the fold. In this particular case she found an excuse I couldn't argue with, "Happy Birthday Honey, see what I bought you, that beautiful Sanke"! Now to think of it, I'm pretty sure Russ had a hand in this as well as Toshio, Miwa and Agnes, for they all had that very special "gotcha" look in their collective eyes.

Wow, it looks like the 2008 PNKCA Seminar is going to be loaded with good speakers. Can't wait until next September and thank you Russ for the clarification. If you hadn't clarified then I would have shown up this September and be scratching my head as I wonder where all the koi kichis are :-)!! Can't wait to hear Dick and Mat speak!
