"Have you ever seen an exception to this? A koi that has won at size one...and seen it win through many different sizes. Just curious if it has ever happened..and what variety of koi has done it?"

I've seen pictures of Gene's favorite male Ginrin Kohaku (Sparkle). He is one damn fine looking adult male that keeps looking strong in spite of his age at 11 years. Does he have the bones to go up against the big girls??? Nope. But at his age you'd swear he was a perfectly finished male in the prime of his youth.

Thanks again...Brutuscz.
Brutuscz, I am not trying to bring up the sold koi to rub it in or anything. Rather, I am really interested in what others think about the koi overall as a potential future fish. This is clearly a koi that is in its 2nd growing season, is it not? If so, then should we be concerned about its size? While we are in the topic of size, does it concern anyone that its head looks a little long and its tail joint is a little thin? Other than that, I like the pattern. It will look nice as the koi grows. Sorry that it's already sold.

Lammi: In my opinion, not a long term Sanke. But, worthy of recognition in smaller size categories. JMO.
