Mama and more babies

Thanks for the great feedback,
Ross and Bob did it to me again today, they just keep bringing me more great kohaku. There is enough for 2 days worth of culling and the last pond looks like it may be the same. They were so busy today that we couldn't take a new picture of Yuri, thats Mama Kohaku's name. So, instead I have included a picture we took around 2 years ago. The head closeup shows her fantastic fukurin. As for the males Joyce, they always get the shaft! Excuse the pun. I'll try and find some pics tomorrow. I used 4 males to her this year, stories for each will follow with the pics. The size of todays baby koi pictures are in the 2.5 - 5 inch range. Jen numbered them for me, let me know your favorites.

Dreaming in red and white tonight
Mat

If you twisted my arm and made me pick one I would choose # 7. And then I would pick #1 and #4. What beautiful babies! Thanks for taking the time to share them with us. J

Hi Matt,

They are all pretty incredible, but I really like #4. How many years have you bred the mother?

I like both kohaku # 7 and # 4 . They both have outstanding odome and white shoulder. I like koi # 7 a little better as I believe it may have better growth with thick bone structure and the kiwa is sharper with koi # 7 than # 4 especailly on the first step. I wonder are you selling some of this yearling koi in the near future. Let me know . I would like to grow them out to see how they look. Also could you posted the picture of the male parent also? The female parent is just outstanding with its thick beni and pattern. Thanks Mr. Koi/ Matt.

Some quick answers

Russ, this is the third year I have spawned her.

AQKOI2, these koi returned to the mudpond today, in about 30 days I will see and cull them again. and then they will return again to the mudpond to be harvested late september/early October. At that time I will quarantine them for about 1 month and set aside the best of the best for winter concrete pond growout followed by Summer mudpond growout. Our main event harvest on the last weekend in October is the first time any of the babies will be offered for sale. I hope you can make it.

Mat

they're beautiful Mat. Nice to see you posting. Your Ochiba and goshiki babies are doing well and will have to get motivated and take some pictures to share. The sanke that was magoi and went to Ron in Tri-cities is awesome. This fall I'd like to get my hands on #5.

Thanks Mat,

I agree with Dick, it's good to see Quality Koi posting on KB. If had to choose of all the koi you have posted, I'd still take the third kohaku from the first day followed by the seventh on the second day.
