My guess is right; looking at the body structure especially a little hump on the shoulder. I like the thick and height tail {it is also commonly found in Maruyama}; Good piece, keep us update in future.

tonio,
koiman lives in brunei, I think. One one here carry Kondo in the USA. I asked about it on this board a while back, and recieved no constructive reply.

I will keep you posted on that maruyama. I am worry that it may follow the path of my other maruyama to become Murata.

Question

Don't wanna sound to awfully dumb here...But I'm just a hobbyist who has always gone and bought my fish for what appealed to me.
I never bought a fancy expensive fish to show or because it had a certain bloodline.
Sooo... My question is:
"How do you know if a fish is a 'KONDO' Baby"?
Do they give you certificates of registration Like in Dogs?
Fish change every year...How would a person Know they were in fact getting a "KONDO" offspring if he or she was just a Hobbyist like me who wanted to add some quality to their pond?

You don't know absolutely for fact but....

If you go to Japan and purchase direct from the breeder you know...
- provided the breeder did not purchase tosai or fry from another breeder
- if you ask the breeder he would tell you- most likely

If you buy from a dealer, the dealer would know the breeder, unless...
- the dealer is not honest
- the dealer bought from another dealer wholesale

So, it can get complicated but with some amount of confidence, you can know the breeder.

Mike brought up some good points. Most dealers know where they are getting their tosai from and yes breeders do share fry with one another.

"How do you know if a fish is a 'KONDO' Baby"?
Trust the dealers word or the breeders word.

On the higher end or "Tategoi" side some breeders will supply a certificate.

Once again it is trust you have with your dealer who has a good relationship with the breeder. Quality is based on what the fish has, (Conformation, Shiroji, Beni, Sumi, and Pattern). NOT every breeder's stock is high quality, so base your pruchase on Quality not name brand.
