what do you think for this showa?

I just bought on last sunday. Is the red marking on the body too much or not?

Not too beni much for my liking. I'm no showa expert by any means, but those far more knowledgeable than I seem to agree that a big, strong, Kohaku pattern is the right way to start and this one fits the bill. The sumi already appears to have good potential with motoguro already forming well. I like it.

I like th koi very much for the balance of the three colors. In the photo you can see the black showing at the base of the dorsal so that black will come on strong as it is deep and it will balance out the strong red in that section. there is also a small piece of black near the tail to establish itself and the spliting of the colors ( red and white) where the body meets the tail is gonna give that koi a nice touch. I like the chances of this koi to develop well over the next 2-3 years

I don't think the sumi will be an issue, but the beni will. Looks uneven and weak around the should and lateral line areas. Don't try to grow it too fast or it will definitely fall apart sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your all comment and suggestion. This is a ogata koi. I bought it from a dealer of ogata in thailand. I have not too much experience in showa. The reason that i decision to buy this koi is on the head of showa it should have 3 colour on that. Am i correct?

As a newbie myself, but can't stop to comment on this good piece. I personally agreed that a good showa must have three colour in the head; it is important to have a strong sumi in the shoulder and motoguro on all the fin in tosai and as its grow the sumi will develop nicely. Take a good care in feeding and water condition, the beni will be stronger, not too worry. Please keep us update for her progress.

Yes, having all 3 colors on the head is important. ....just how important may vary among judges and hobbyists. I have the impression that in the U.S. there is a tendency among AKCA judges to give this factor greater weight than it seems to be given by ZNA judges in Japan, although all include it in their consideration. I say that not based on what is said or written, but just on photos of show results. It may be a misimpression.
