Yep, males can develop into incredible Koi if they're given the same opportunity as female Koi are given,... from birth onward. Part of the bad rap that males have gotten regarding size potential and "short window of beauty" comes directly from how they are cared for from tosai onward. Once a Koi is discovered to be male it's often crowded, colored up, stunted and sold,... not given an opportunity to shine. Notice many males that are thought to be females, and are grown on for another year or two, and not crowded, and are well cared for, mature into incredible Koi,.... in the 24" to 26" range.

Best Wishes,
Brady

The breeder is Momotaro, not sure from which parents. Will be sending the kohaku back to the dealer to exchange for another fish as agreed during the purchase.Just pity that it turned out male.

Of course, do understand how when it turned out to be male. What a waste? You have done so well in keeping and growing these males.
