Russ, nice and cheap TT. I guess you just to have to a koi nut to like it in your backyard. I can become one if you can suggest how to hide it, or convert it to a waterfall.

Thank you Russ for sharing your TT with us. I know that you are very busy but I was wondering if you could share with us how you go about placing the Matala mats in the TT. Do you have all 4 densities in there? And do all four chambers contain Matala mats and Lithaqua? As always, thanks for the info.

Hi Birdman, if you read this post I was wondering if it's possible for you to share your TT with us. I noticed a pix of it on your personal website. What are the trays made out of and what type of media do you place in the trays? In your opinion does it work or what is your recommendation?

Also, if I am correct, Dick Benbow stated in a previous post that you make stainless steel TT trays. Is this correct, if so then do you sell them to hobbyists? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Birdman.

Steve is off building a pond in Texas this week so will be unavailable for comment.

He built his out of a heavy material and filled it with volcanic rock. It splattered too much and got to tottering in the strong winds of Central Oregon so he's back to the drawing board. Also I know he plans to have a higher turnover pump next time as well.

One of the guys in the Puget Sound Koi Club worked with stainless at his job,
so John and I got together and built my two. These are actually bakki shower types for my project as well as Steve's.

True TT's I had built out of plexi-glass. They're 5 foot tall, with drip trays and catch basin at the bottom plumbed with water return and airstones to air the water on return and send a column of air up against the downward flow of the water. The air exits out of escape holes just under the drip pan. I also had two built of those. I traded someone who runs a salt water aquarium store my 2 step kohaku from sakai-hiroshima that took tategoi award at the seattle show. I couldn't get him to quote me a price so I asked him what he'd take. I must admit it was a tough decision.

But if I can get one idea across in all my blabbering.....better to have a top quality pond with top quality water....then to have a top quality fish without the previous two!

Hi Jr, I am sorry it took so long for an answer, but I work during the week as a GC.

The boxes are 14" x 11" x 48" and I get them from Plastic Tanks, Plastic Buckets, Plastic Bottles, Labware, PVC Pipe - United States Plastic Corporation ® for about $45.00 each.

I use the shorter ones to distribute or collect water.

From the photo...these could be the Orbis crates.
Yup, these are them.

Hi Dick,

I don't think I have the energy to do that, but it was discussed in a prior thread called "Lithaqua and its affects on pH".

Sorry Stan but I think they look good the way they are, although I set up one for a customer away and out of sight from the pond and it returned to the pond via 2 - 4" lines. Something to think about.
