I'm new to koi, but I think it's pretty.

I do agree this fish has NO future for anything but a pond fish, I knew that from the start as soon as I laid eyes on it...

Tough crowd but I asked for it

Hey, that's what we are here for... Brutal but honest. If you want real harsh critizism checkout RafflesGold Forums - Web Space for Goldfish Lovers they rip goldfish critiques to shreds...

is it really an imported fish???

sorry if I offend you but come to think of it, I have not see an imported fish that is so sub-standard from the rest of Japanese import. this fish is probably came from a local pond. I don't think this fish would survive the culling stages from the Japanese breeders.

Well the funny thing about this one Steve is that the dealer told him it was from Kazuto....I think that fish would have gotten sent to the ditch after the first cull. Knowing this breeder is very limited in space that fish wouldn't have made the cut to grow on...

Nothing against "trac", just the dealer who gave him the fish.

it has a lot of sumi in the back half and no hi there
The larger problem is the conformation. Face too short, body too long, no growth potential.

Good one .... I mean the description. Sorry to say it, don't waste your time to grow it. Safe the space in your pond.

That's what I was thinking, so I'm glad you spoke up.

I've got to agree about the fish. Even if you ignore the messy pattern, I seriously doubt this one would have made it through culling even in most domestic breeding operations based on the odd body conformation alone. It costs too much money for Japanese breeders to feed and then ship Koi to let one like this get through.

BTW, this is a tough crowd. That is one of the best things about this forum IMHO. You can get honest opinions from people here
