Learned Something New?

I just brought two Ochibas back from the show, and suddenly one had a black spot about the size of a scale, where there was no such spot earlier in the day.

Suddenly I realized that Ochibas "bruise" black, and the little guy must have whacked his head a bit in the bag.

Steve . . .

We, too, have an ochiba that lost all its hi; it's a nice soragoi now.

Nothing you can do now but watch the transformation.

Don,

it's been fascinating watching it changes. It makes the hobby so much more enjoyable.

The same thing happened to me but worse still it was a male that produced a lot of sergoi and magoi type fish which grew faster and devoured a lot of good fish from my kohaku spawn a full 4 pails at harvest time .

It was the wagoi, but it's small. I am very hopeful it will resolve. As we know, these reticulated scaled ones are TOUGH.

Blue, my asagi which was a gift from Dick, is voted "The koi most likely to commit suicide at the show" each year. Not a mark on him, even though he lost one red scale from the underside somewhere.

Glad you are enjoying your ochiba Dick...they bring back fun memories of Ochiba Monday at Quality Koi.

The GR has not stopped eating since I put her back in the pond.

The big "Drainage" is on the 20th of October. We have got quite a crowd going including Mike. There are a few people from Colorado going to the big "Drainage" as well. I think you are on a mission to coin a new phrase.
