Thank you very much! If you are looking for a neat, inexpensive Christmas gift for that koi nut on your list, a Cayman Islands Koi Club pin might be just the ticket! And you will be right in the spirit of Christmas giving because your $10.00 purchase price will be donated in full to KHV research. Please send me a PM if you are interested. Merry Christmas, Dale | |

Oin Design I've had some people ask what the big yellow thing is under the two koi on the Caymay Island Koi Club pin. That is the shape of Grand Cayman, the largest island in the Cayman Islands and the island where Lee Aronfeld lives. Attached is a satellite picture of Grand Cayman showing the entire island, which I think is 22 miles long. If you look were the cruise ships are in the harbor, then follow the coast line around to the point where there is a slight change in the shoreline inland before it juts out to a point, there are two houses there. Lee's home is the one on the right. See it? It's the one with two koi ponds. If your eyes are good you can tell the difference between the showa's and the kohaku's, but the patterns aren't very clear in the picture. Dale

That big yellow thing? Dear Dale, I am red faced, as well as, embarassed. And, at a loss as to how I am going to face the membership of our world wide koi club membership (some are already saying that The Cayman Koi Club has become the largest koi club in the world) - whilst it's members are still questioning what that large 'yellow' thing....upon the face of the pin/badge, is? Indeed, your explaination was excellent. As was the photo of Grand Cayman Island that you had attached in the above post. However, we should have more clearly defined all three Cayman Islands upon the club pin. Don't you agree? And, we should identify our three paradise like islands on the 2008 pin...This is certainly a reasonable request. Dale, I understand from the emails I have received and from the number of private posts on this forum and others is that you still have a small handful of the 2007 Cayman Island Koi Club pins remaining available...is that correct? Also, I understand that you have not raised the purchase price on the few remaining 2007 pin even though it is now a widely recognised collectors item. And, one of the most giving of Christmas gifts which anyone within in the koi hobby should choose to place under a fellow koi hobbyist and/or dealers Christmas tree or place in the 'stocking hung' onto the mantle of a fellow hobbyist/dealer/judge or breeder. Or, to send to one of their favourite breeder friends in Japan...as 'their' evidence of respect...for their role in helping to find a cure for KHV; during this Yuletide season. Yes, I am work on the 2008 pin. And, I am certain it will be different than the 2008 pin. However, from the number of hobbyist already interested in purchasing one or more, I suspect they will sell very rapidly. As those who are buying them all know all of the scourge of KHV and that we are sending 100% of the proceeds from our sales to KHV research. Thus, the more sales of pins we sell, the more gift giving of the pins/badges will be experienced, as well, as, the more money we shall have raised for KHV research. Dale, someone in the hobby who I hold in highest respect recently wrote to me that this was a win-win situation for every koi hobbyist, retailer, koi judge and breeder. And, that for a hobbyist or retailer or breeder not to evidence their ownership of a Cayman Island Koi Club 'pin' displayed proudly upon their lapel is the same as saying they don't truly care about koi nor in finding a cure for KHV... Yes, I can't believe that everyone who is on this board - would not put their money where their mouth was...and, send the ten US dollars for the purchase of one of these beautiful proud to wear koi club pins. Don't you agree? With my respects, Lee Aronfeld Grand Cayman

Michael and Toni...please help! Dear Mike and Toni, You two are full of great ideas... How about advising, recommending and suggesting how we might increase the visibility of our fund raising efforts. With warmest hugs, Lee Grand Cayman

Dear All, Wow, thank you Mr. Jim North for becoming the first world wide member of the Cayman Koi Club, 2008. Indeed, your 2008 membership pin order has been duly noted. I wanted to also make mention of the email Dale Torok sent me earlier this morning from Mr. Stephen Eckard who had sent a cheque for five (5) pins and his cheque and two (2) pins for each Dale and I of his own club pins for our own pin collection! Stephen, that's really a generous gesture. Thank you very much! As is now apparent, our friend Dale is doing all the really difficult work on behalf of our KHV fund raising efforts...and he is doing a great job too. Stephen, I already envision my having to arm wrestle him, however, for two of those pins.. I just hope he will remember to bring me one each when he comes to the Cayman Islands later this month for our club's annual Christmas meeting. As you may have aleady heard, the local club membership is in heightened anticipation that Dale won't again be wearing his green stipped knee high shorts as the laughter when Dale wears his bright green shorts drowns out the singing of the club song, the secretary's membership roll call and even the loud wail of the police car sirens as our clubs members partake in our annual naked beach run! With my respects, Lee Aronfeld Grand Cayman

Dale, not to feel badly...it is probably this same guy, who was arrested in the Minn. Dear Dale, You should not feel hurt about the above 'rude quip' - as I believe this is from the same guy (who in the above thread acknowledged that he had not enlarged the thumbnail in order to view our wonderful island paradise) is the same guy recently arrested in the Minneapolis Airport men's room.... Obviously, he has an adoration or fixation on toilet bowls... Or, is that mud ponds? Indeed, I have heard it is one or the other - either of which shall only going to lead him down the path into more and more trouble. Gosh, I feel so sad for his lovely wife. Don't you? Your pal, Lee GRAND CAYMAN ISLAND
