Thank you Cindy, for supporting the effort and joining the club!

It looks like you have started to have some fun with this thread, which is good, but I would like to inject some sincerity here with a grateful thank you to so many of you who are now members in good standing of the little koi club in the Caribbean.

The little koi club that really isn't so little any more!

The little koi club that now has members in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Scotland, The Netherlands and Texas. (I have mailed 5 pins to Texas, but that doesn't necessarily mean we have 5 members in Texas. Texans like to wear rows of things on their chest, you know.)

What might be really interesting would be if those of you who have purchased a pin to help support KHV research would post a comment to the thread endorsing Lee's attempt to raise money for research and encourage others to do the same.

Let's see who the best marketing genius is out there!

Fill in the blank.........

"I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because ________________?________________________

Can we get an assist and hear from some creative writers out there?

Thanks in advance for helping,

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because Lee held a gun to my head and said "Do it mon".

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because I was drinking waaayyy too much of Lee's special rum so when he said we need money to find a "cure for khv" I thought he was taking about buying a new type of mixed drink.

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because why wouldn't I?

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because I wanted to participate in this "I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because" game.

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because then I'd be super cool.

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because then I could talk with an island accent mon.

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because it's a good cause and what's $10 to a single person?

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because Lee is just such a charming and convincing guy....how could I possible say no???

I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because they are pretty.
I bought a Cayman Islands Koi pin and joined the club because I appreciate Lee and Dale's efforts in the fight against KHV.

I bought a pin because Dale and Lee promised me pie. Plus, you know, I've got the music in me.

I am hoping that there is a January club meeting that I might be attending if scheduling works out. Maybe I can help with the daily scrubbing of the answers.

That was "pie in the sky" that Lee promised you.

If it makes you feel any better he promised it to me, too, but I haven't seen any yet. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

That's a great picture of you with a Cayman Island Koi Club pin on your shirt! Is that a Michigan Koi and Pond Clubs shirt you have on? I recall that you bought your pin at the Chicago Koi Show but don't remember seeing you in that shirt there. Are you wearing your pin everywhere?

Dale, I don't wear it every where but I do keep it handy in case I go into a Circle K or a Golden Corral where it gets me the 50% discount you had mentioned.

Real reason? Fun, baby! The hobby is fun and so I support it when I can. Lee is Phun and I support him when I can. KHV is not fun and if AKCA is doing its bit to help resolve the dilemnas hobbyists must face, let me support them when I can. I would hate to go about making discoveries and devising strategies on my own. Maybe something can be resolved.

Meanwhile, I am cautious and informed because of the AKCA KHV efforts. And maybe I'll get a suntan on my butt at the next club meeting.

I think that membership might decline if made to watch your butt tan.

Russ...we need a plan!

Dear Russ,

KHV is serious business and it requires serious money, as well as, contributions from serious koi hobbyists - particularly those who recognise that a cure and furthering KHV education is a great deal more important than how they are asked (to support the cause) or by whom they are asked...

Like yourself whose given already - you gave because you're aware of what KHV can do to a koi collection. And, you're realistic, as well as, proud of being part of our effort to raise the money.

Russ, obtaining donations is not easy. Some hobbyist will find any excuse not to give...even spreading hateful stories about the messenger.

Regardless, we will be able (at a minumum) to send a couple thousand dollars to Doug Dahl at Koi USA from our fund raising efforts.

Mickey is one of the good guys in our fund raising effort and if he chooses to show off his butt, I say, good for him.

It's a lot less painful to see than the many hateful messages I have received from hobbyists who are angry having been asked to donate to this worthy cause.

Thus, Mickey, wear your pin. We need more donations if we are going to achieve success in our fight against KHV.

Russ, as expected...my warmest holiday greeting to you and your family; wishing you good health, prosperty and much love!

Your pal,

Lee
