How are the 2008 pins coming along? Have you run out of the 2007 pins yet?

Thanks for asking Jim! There are only a few of the 2007 pins left. I have received orders for seven of them in the past week, so we are down to the last twenty-something pins. I'm not sure of the exact number.

Two of the pins sent out last week were to koi hobbyists in Ireland, Gary Hazley in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland and James Guiler, County Antrim, Belfast, Ireland. The current issue of Koi Carp Magazine has an article about the CI pin fund raiser for KHV research that has resulted in several emails to me with orders from Scotland and England in addition to these from Ireland.

I will be posting here soon a listing of our new Cayman Islands Koi Club members whose pin purchases will make up the the contribution. We will send a check at that time to the KHV research project.

The 2008 Cayman Islands Koi Club Pin design is done and the order placed with the pin manufacturer. Lee has made the decision to keep his offer open of selling pins and donating the full sale price to KHV research. I am already holding several pre-apid orders for the 2008 pin from people who have purchased the 2007 pin.

Anyone may purchase 2008 pins now by sending me a PM as I am the collector of payments and the shipper of pins.

Thanks and kudo's to all of you who have participated. This information has been posted on several forums, but Koi Bito has generated the most comments and sales so far. KB has added a lot of new members to the Cayman Islands Koi Club!

How about you? Are you a member yet? Come on in. The water's fine!

I'm going to purchase 3 pins from the 2008 series.

I think that in addition to being a good cause, these pins might be collectors items in years to come.

Plus it's fun!

(psst...I think pic might be coming soon.)

Welcome, Ed"

Dear Ed,

Welcome, to the ever growing Cayman Islands Koi Club.

We are grateful to have received your contribution and donation which shall be used for KHV research and education.

Sir, in the Cayman Islands, today, is our islands, HERO'S DAY!

Hero's Day is a National Holiday when our British Crown Colony celebrates our nations hero's...whose lives and dedication have contributed to the success of our proud island nation.

The names of our islands hero's names are chisled onto a granite wall sited in the middle of our capital city, George Town - for everyone to see and to honour and to give their respects.

Ed, I honestly wish I could do the same in honouring each man and woman whose made a donation to our KHV fund raising efforts.

Of course, our efforts shall not have changed the world in any dramatic way; similarly as the efforts made by our tiny islands HERO'S. However, each donation, as well as, each effort made by our island's HERO'S were nonetheless given... And, each of us are very grateful that they did!

Ed, I know you agree that no one needed to join our koi club's fight against KHV. However, to each of the several hundred koi hobbyists have now been made koi...HERO'S ~ thank you!

You are, indeed, are KOI HERO'S who have expressed their affection for our hobby and who truly want to seek an end to KHV.

Thus, today on our HERO'S DAY, The Cayman Island Koi Club sends a special - thank you to 'Ed' our newest hero!

With our sincerest respect,

from,

Lee Aronfeld

Me too! Dale tells me that my membership pin is in the mail! Even though I can't imagine I'll ever have the pleasure of going to the Cayman Islands I know that I belong to a club there and have happily contributed to the AKCA's KHV research fund. Thanks, Dale and Lee!

What are the chances of the 2008 CI pins being at the CFKS? If they are there I will buy many, if they are not I will still buy many when there are available.

And me too, although I haven't received my pins yet, they should be here soon! I have been to the Cayman Islands one time and it's beauty is still en-grained in my mind. Lovely people, truly a Lovely Island with the bluest water and sunshine!
Lee you may not remember me, but I had the pleasure of meeting you and Sheila at ZNA Potomac's show and seeing your amazing Koi, what a treat that was-Wow ! At Koi America too. I had asked Vicki V to introduce us because I have been a long time fan of yours from reading the NI board. I am thrilled to be a Cayman Island member now and look forward to the 2008 pins. Glasses raised to hoping we find a cure for this miserable virus hurting our beloved jewels and in the near future!
Thank you Dale and Lee

After much good intentions, which became interminable procrastination, I am, at last, a member of the Cayman Islands Koi Club.

Thanks, Dale. The pin arrived today.

And, thank you, Lee, for the genorosity. You're one of the good guys. ...See you in Orlando at CFKS. ...Too bad the bartender at the hotel can't make Yellow Birds. Perhaps we can test his skills with something else?
