The 2008 Cayman Island Koi Club Pin

The 2008 Cayman Island Koi Club pins are here and available for anyone who would like to purchase them. There are some design differences between the 2007 and the 2008 pin.

The 2007 pin depicts a showa and a sanke.

The 2008 pin has a kohaku and a shiro utsuri on it...

The koi on both pins are imposed over the yellow shape of the island of Grand Cayman.

The 2008 pin has a starfish on three corners of the pin. The three starfish represent the three islands that make up the Cayman Islands.... Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

The 4th corner of the 2008 pin has a depiction of waves representing the ocean that surrounds the Cayman Islands.

And, of course, the 2008 pin has 2008 on it instead of 2007!!!

Lee will have plenty of the 2008 pins for those of you attending the Central Florida Koi Show in Orlando next weekend. His offer of donating the full $10.00 purchase price to the KHV research project is still in effect for all pins purchased.

Here is a photo of the 2008 pin.

Dale, I ordered both pins on Dec.30 and paid for both pins. I asked you to mail them both at the same time.

Thanks for all the hard work organizing this.

I've got mine!

I picked up a couple of the Caymen Island pins at the CFKS. I also got to say hi to Lee, which is always a bonus. Thank you for the pins.

I picked up my two 2008 pins. It was great to see Lee and Sheila. They had their son and grandkids keeping them company at CFKS.

That wasn't wine!

Wooosh!

I never drank so much homemade 'moonshine' out of glass jug before.

However, I should now be old enough by this gray haired age to have known better than to have downed as much as I did as it was a hang-over only waiting to happen!

Additional news - I was told by several of our off-shore club members at CFKS that there is a vote now circulating amongst the off-shore membership to have the next annual Cayman Island Koi Club meeting at our nearby Wendy's...

I thought what a great idea...just think if everyone of the members showed up for the meeting - we could actually fill the Wendy's two tables.

All the best,

Lee A

I got a Cayman Island Koi Club pin as a gift from Steve Eckard. Does that mean I became an honorary off shore member of the Cayman Island Koi Club? Or I have to purchase directly inorder to become honorary member?

BTW, I would like to thank Dale, Lee, and all other who are trying in many ways to support the hobby that we all love dearly...

Dinh,

Well, Mr. fellow koi kichi, I don't see your name in post #75 on page 8 of this thread, do you? Steve Eckard bought several pins saying he wanted to present some to his friends. Now we have evidence that he's done that. You are the first to admit that you got in the club FREE!!! But that's OK! If you'll PM me your full name, I'll make sure to insert it and add it to the list. If you have a pin, then we know 10 dollars went to KHV research. That's good enough for me.

There are a LOT of Cayman Islands Koi Pin purchasere who are not on that list among the people who have walked up to either me or Lee at koi shows and paid cash for a pin. If I don't have it written down or if you didn't mail me a check, you may have a pin and not be included on the list.

Lee sold 30 pins at the two koi shows in Florida over the past 3 weeks.... the Tropical Koi Show in Boca Raton and the CFKS show in Orlando. That's $300.00 more added to the kitty toward the next check we will donate for KHV research.

Thanks to all of you who have participated. We have plenty of the new 2008 pins available for anyone who would like to order them. Just send me a PM and help stamp out KHV.

We can now add Canada to the list of countries with koi hobbyists who have purchased Cayman Islands Koi Club pins... I received a nice letter and check for six pins, 3 each of the 2007 and 2008 pins from Dave Smith of Delta, British Columbia, Canada. Dave ordered some pins for himself and Clark Shea, the president of his koi club, the Pacific Northwest Koi Club Association (PNKCA). There is a very nice article about the PNKCA convention in the current issue of Koi USA magazine.

Both of these gentlemen are now enrolled as Honorary Offshore Members of the Cayman islands Koi Club and proud contributors to the research for a cure of KHV disease.

Larry Christensen is another member of this club with his own CI pins. Lee and I met Larry & his wife at Ray Abell's fall harvest in Virginia last November, where they bought several pins to take back to Washington with them.
