Tancho Or Not ?

I over heard Judges at a ZNA Show , trying to decide if a Koi was benched correctly . The Koi at first site , seemed to be a Tancho , but the spot went into the scaled portion of the back of the koi just a little bit (To what degree I don't remember). This isn't the koi , but I post it for visual aid .

Sorry , I don't remember if it was a Tancho Kohaku , Sanke or Showa or what they decided .

Whats your thoughts on this or have any of you heard this also ?

but it sounds like it a better tancho than it would have been as a regular gosanke.

If the owner and benching team are happy...the judges really don't have a reason to protest....just judge it according the competition withing the show class.

Remember, t

If it was like the picture you are showing, I would not consider it a Tancho.

Remember, the authority at a show comes from the Show Chairperson...not any Judge.

Remember , I said ZNA Show . Lets say it wasn't the judges , it was the benching team or Show Chair . Can a hobbiest decide where they want their koi to be benched ? Don't get hung up on the photo , that was just for a viewing aid .

I have heard that what standards "flys" in a AKCA Show , may not at a ZNA ?

Troy....

From a technical standpoint, its a Gin Rin (or appears to be) Showa, not a Tancho by definition since the beni goes off of the head and onto the body. It should be benched in Gin Rin A (technically). But...show chairs (AKCA or ZNA could bench it elsewhere. The judges may "ask" to have it rebenched but that is up to the show chair (most likely with input from the owner).

It should be benched in the "Tancho" Class, and let the Judging team decide how it should place among its competetion for that day.

Best Wishes,
Brady

judges always have the final say

and it's always with the intent of helping the koi/owner to do it's best
If the event happened with the three AKCA judges above, Tom,Larry and Pat
you can bet things were done properly.

Dick , I'm not sure why Brady attached that photo to this thread . They had nothing to do with the question on the thread .
