help - red tissue on fins

on Saturday, I noticed a couple fish having some red tissues on their pec and dorsal fins. at close up look, other than red tissue, I don't see anything else. Not sure why but fish were jumping at nights last week though. no flashing or jumping during day time. eating and swimming seem to be normal. any idea what might causing the problem? thx.

Water quality issue more than likely. I have a gin shiro that gets like that when she is stressed. ON mine it looks like tissue but it is blood in fins. I can't see real clear on your picture.

that's the words I was looking for. it's blood in fins. what happened to your fish? did the problem went away on its own?

if it's water issue, it would tough to isolate since it's been a routine. not sure if the weird weather causing this problem. we went from hot to cold in matter of days lately.

It comes when I try and catch it or there is water problems like ammonia or any stressor at all, it is my canary fish. when everything is good it goes away.

It could be the sudden temp drop although my fish are not doing that. Sounds to me like a bigger than normal Ph swing. Take some readings morning afternoon and evening and see if there is a big difference in your Ph. You might also want to check for ammonia and nitrite spikes while you're at it. Something is stressing your fish, that's for sure!

It's not the time of year for pH problems. This is when you would expect protozoans, anchor worm and or flukes. I would suspect the blood shot in the fins is due to something like trichodina or costia. Breaching is usually associated with an irritant. Could be pH, but again the wrong time of year, or the start of anchor worm. When fish flash they generally have gill flukes and when they breach the irritation is on the body. I would strongly think about taking the fish off feed, doing a water change and cleaning the filter. After you have cleaned up the system consider either MG & Formalin or raising the salt levels. One or the other. Not both. This will clear up the blood shot and is a good fall or spring regiment. After this if the fish are still breaching then you need to consider treating for anchor worm and or flukes.

thanks for the suggestions guys!

here is an quick update. water parameters are fine. no Ammonia/PH swing issue.

I did one treatment of quick cure and it seems like the redness is receding. will do another treatment of quick cure again if fish still breaching. haven't see any breach so far but I am not watching them 24/7 even so can't be too sure either. I have not resume feeding yet. will update again in few days.
