I am very sorry for your loss. You're not alone.....MANY people have forgotten and left hoses running before. Get a hose timer and some new koi....it'll get better.

Michael . . .

So sorry to hear about your loss. Know you'll get yourself back up and move on, a much wiser man.

It happens to all of us, literally. Hang in there, learn from the accident. Everything will be groovy.

Don't feel too bad, learn from this.

I did the same thing when I asked my wife to turn off the water in 1 hour.
Eight hours later after work, I found out that she forgot so I went to HD and bought a $10 water timer and have used it since.

It seems that the larger koi are the one that die first from the chlorinated water & the smaller < 1yr are less susceptible.

Auto fill

I am so sorry for the loss of your koi. By posting it here it makes us all more aware of how careful we need to be. Thank you for that.

I have a friend who had the auto fill valve on his pond stick open and it claimed 7 of his largest. The smaller ones survived. He didn't realize what was happening until too late... If your pea green pond is crystal clear in 2 days something is up. Does anyone know why the big ones are more susceptable?
