Sakai Auction - Day 1

Today was primarily open sales day.


Participants are placed in one of 6 groups who then take it in turn to choose from the Koi that are for sale. Some vats have fixed prices, the best Koi in the ponds have a price tag of up to 500,000 yen.

The day culminated in an auction of tosai

Of the two japanese Breeders I hold in high regard was nice to see both in the photos....Toshio and Kentaro.

Was wondering if you ran across SFF rep in the NW, Joel B ?

Wasn't that kohaku in the net with kentaro spectacular?

The marker board says it all....So some fish to fetch $60,000 is believible.

He's gone purchase at the Auction for us, a nisai Kohaku from Tomahawk or Yamato.....I'm very curious and in tense expactation what he is come up with for us this year

Well it's 7am here in Hiroshima now so just 2 hours or so until the start of the main event.

I'm brim full of anticipation for what will surely be a fascinating day ahead.
