Here is the shimi. It looks superficial...I'll try the scrape method in a week or so. Thanks.
What do you think of the lemon juice application I read about? Useful at all?
Wouldnt rush judgement on the Shimi. See if it goes away first then scrap or juice it.
I've also heard about the use of lemon juice. As mentioned before, it is for removing unwanted beni ON THE FINS not the body, but not for removing shimi that I have heard about!?
I like 'em all, especially when you consider these shots are fresh from the bag after a long cross country trip. The Yamabuki really does look nice, and if the color is as soft in person as you describe it could turn out REALLY nice.
Of course you know you are on the hook for progress photo's for at least 1 or 2 years...
BTW, I'd be leaving the shimi alone for now too. No sense taking chances messing up the scales if you don't need to and you can always go back later if necessary.
The pointed head on the ogon might just be my photo. I think I caught a funny angle...doesn't look pointy in person. I can wait on the shimi...no real rush. My water is ridiculously soft(tds=50, GH=40-60, KH 20-40)...so, it might just go away. When I take them out of quarantine in a few weeks, I will re-examine it. Just upsetting I didn't spot it in the picture...I really like the pattern and depth of hi on that one. Need it to fill out though...get huge!!
Nice additions. I'm sure I'll end up adding some Richigoi to my pond as well in the near future. Overall, the Koi seem to be of high quality and Richard definitely seems like an awesome guy. I've exchange a few emails with him already. I'll definitely post pics of my SJKoi pickups as well when the time comes...
