A few new koi for evaluation...Finally bought a Richigoi (SJkoi)!!

I sold a few...and purchased a few. #1 is a 10inch female Marudo kohaku. #2 is a 14inch male sanke from Maruyo. The next 4 are from Richard R.(SJkoi). The platinum ogon is about 4-5inch(he threw this in as a gift...and I really appreciate it...nice guy for sure!!!The first small kohaku is 5inch. The second is 6inch. I am very impressed with the depth of the beni. The Yellow ogon is 11 inch and female. Nice light yellow...will definitely deepen in my pond. These were all a little stressed...I snapped the shots as I was transfering them to my quarantine tank. Can't really show the shiro too well at this point. New pics in a few weeks when they go in my main pond. Opinions are welcome and appreciated!!! Gotta get my education somewhere!!!

B,
the other took better pictures. THe marudos seems to have lost a lot of their body mass from you pictures.

that's a long way to ship clear across the country*

I like Richard's koi , and yes, he gets my vote as a good human being as well.

It is strange that your first two koi look fat in the first photos

* I have one this winter that's coming from Philly to Seattle. She's out of the mud the 27th, hopefully at 24 inches ( about the max to get away with such a long flight ). I think the smaller koi travel better....

That yellow ogon looks really nice. That'd be the one I'd want.

The last Ogon : You say shes light yellow ? She looks pretty bright to me for a 11 inch fish & is her head colored as it is in the photo (yellow/white)?

Yeah...my pictures stink on this one. Bad overcast lighting today...really messes up the overall look. The yellow ogon is very light...pastel yellow. My picture makes her look much darker.
My one issue was with the murudo kohaku. There is one black shimi...I didn't see it on the stock photo. What to do about it?
I have read....scrape with fingernail and lemon juice...also heard of simply pulling the scale. any advice on this is appreciated.

lemon juice is for beni removal on the scale surface

When it comes to removing shimi, best to put the fish under and try and scrape off the black with a sharp object . Sometimes the black is on the outside of the scale and sometimes it's in the skin. The last thing I would do to rremove it is by taking the scale. You run the risk that the color might not match and the scale usually grows in smaller.

Here is the shimi. It looks superficial...I'll try the scrape method in a week or so. Thanks.
What do you think of the lemon juice application I read about? Useful at all?

When were these bred? Anyways, of all the fish the Yamabuki Ogon is so-so...pointed head...can't get past it.
