I have heard Aqion is a good food but have not tried it yet.

Well, how do you base your purchase, because so and so said so or do you buy because you like the way your fish eat it all up....

My fish will eat just about anything I throw to them so I don't use that as a guide. I look at the ingrediants first, then price. I stay away from color enhancers.

I look at price first and then ingredients. I can't afford color enhancers. I give them a variety of foods. Over time, I've gotten the overall price down to 32-cents per pound. The fish are healthy.

Well, I feed them colour, growth and wheat germ plus weekly organic vege. They eat and grow healthy. Now, I am planning to try for purely wheatgerm...is it enough nutritious?

Value.
All things being equal, if I can get the right ingredients I'll go for the least expensive. We use Ray Abell's Floating Wheat staple during late spring/summer. The Koi have thrived on it and growth has been very good. Right now we're tapering off on protein a bit with Mazuri Platinum Wheat Nuggets. (first time to try the Mazuri, but this one has no corn in it).
We may try a bag of Ray's high protein next year. Jesus Brito gave me a few lbs to try and they really liked it.
