Thus the tribes that survived hard times might be more likely to have elders who were, emotionally, easier to leave to die. Or, they might just wander off. Or forget to put on their clothes in the winter.
In my more demented moments, I can envision an ice-ager threatening his father, "Pee your pants one more time, and it's the ice for you!!"
And that's what I remember about Alzheimer's, Russell.
