keep or cull? Longfins.....

I am not a huge longfins fan, but I've had these 3 for a couple of years now. I could use the space they are taking up, but I will keep them if they have any potential. Well? Keep or cull? I will for sure cull one of the matsubas....I don't need 2 of them. Thanks.

If you are going to keep one matsuba, I would keep the second one. Cull the rest.

Cull them all. If you aren't a longfin fan then give them to someone who is so you can improve your collection .

Cindy . . .

Of the three, I like #1 the best. The body and fins remind me of the sole remaining longfin in our pond -- a much beloved fish which will always be with us, I'm sure.

I'm no fan of butterfly.
If you want to keep 1 of them, keep the 1 with the best net pattern, cleanest head and least amount of yellow to it.
Sometime pics dont tell the whole story.

Good Luck

Ive got to go with Russell on this one. The second one is the better fish. The ginrin on the third fish is nice, but does not show well in the photo.

There are a lot of people that would love your culls, find them a good home.

I too agree with Russ, #2 is the better one. But I agree, if they are not for you & your likeing, then by all means find them a home with someone that does appreciate them. I'm the oddball out though, I do like them.. LOL!

For many years, the vast majority of long fins were bred by tarheels. They more or less created the demand and then filled the demand. It was only when they got hit hard by some viral issues that the lead they had disapeared. And while the road to catch back up has been very rough, they are well on their way.

Anyway, Koi are a personal taste item. Some people dearly love long fins, others think they ought to only be bait fish. To each their own.

Keep what you want to keep, give or sell the rest.
