I wish I could visit Yohei this trip. I have a koi coming out of their mudponds this week (I hope). But Yohei is a 5 hour drive one way from Niigata so not planning to go this time.

This is my first trip to Japan where buying koi is not a top priority - which is one reason I am going later in the season than most. My plans revolve mainly around attending ZNA All Japan Show in Ojiya Nov.9-11 and some koi history research including some time at the Nishikigoi museum. Also plan to visit some of the nearby koi breeders in Niigata and a day or two in Isawa.

Thanks for sharing!

The Shiros were decent in person...We bought all 3 in this picture for fun to try. probably only the biggest one will make the main pond, and one will go to the office pond. The biggest one is female, and probably the one with most potential IMHO. There were many other Shiro utsuri and other varieties to choose from in the greenhouse ponds, including some from Omosako bloodline.

Thanks Bob.

Good luck w/the shiros. The big one has my kind of pattern, mostly white with strategically placed sumi.

Regards,

Duc
